Dame Sarah Storey (Podium Ambition Club La Santa) proved she is well on the road to Rio glory by taking an emphatic victory by over five minutes in the Manchester & District Ladies CA 25.

The 38-year-old, who will compete for four gold medals in September to add to those 22 medals she has already gathered, flew around the 1.5-lap Cheshire loop clocking a time of 55.20.

Her time would have been good enough for third in the Nova 25 being ran on the same course on the same day.

Britain's most successful Paralympian of the modern era decimated the women's field.

Gina Riley (Chester RC) came home a comfortable second just missing out on beating the hour to come home second in 1:00.33.

Taking third place and leading the pack home was first veteran Ruth Gamwell (Macclesfield Wheelers) in 1:04.38,  she beat Jayne Dickens (Vision Racing) into fourth by two seconds.

Fastest junior home was Rebecca Gregson (The Racing Chance Foundation) in 1:10.28.
