Twickenham CC’s Liam Maybank raced to victory in High Wycombe CC’s Jack Pearson memorial 25-mile time trial, staged on the H25/2 course near Marlow in Buckinghamshire on Sunday.
The 44-year-old has hit a rich vein of form recently – among his recent results are a win in the Eastern Counties CA 50 a week previously, as well as first in the Westerley CC 10 last month.
His time of 49.16 gave him the win in Buckinghamshire by more than a minute, and he was also the best veteran on standard with a plus of 17.35.
Second spot went to the promoting club’s own Peter Lawrence (High Wycombe CC) with 50.34, while third was George Clark (Catford CC) with 51-07.
Rachael Elliott (Newbury CC) clocked 54.10 to finish an impressive 14th overall in a field of more than 100 riders, and that time was the fastest female by almost seven minutes from veteran woman Katie Crowe (Dulwich Paragon CC).
