Young time trial ace Chris Fennell (Thanet Road Club) took a convincing victory in the Kent Cycling Association 25-mile time trial on the Q25/8 near Challock on Sunday morning.

The 20-year-old clocked 53-23 to take a deserved victory on a cool morning on the sporting Q25/8, which had been left moist by overnight rain ahead of the 7am start.

Although his time was around a minute and a half away from Kevin Tye’s course record, it was good enough for the win by 53 seconds from Dan Northover (Team Bottrill), while Dan Tolhurst (PMR at Toachim House) completed the podium in third place with 54-52.

Another PMR at Toachim House rider, Keeley Chalk was the fastest fenmale in 1-11-13, while the pick of the juniors was Dan Martin (Thanet Road Club) with 57-39.

And in the veterans on standard category, Simon Henderson (Thanet Road Club) clocked 56-51 to beat his age standard by an impressive +11.48 and take the win.

Fennell has already shown good form this season, following his silver medal in last season’s National Closed Circuit Championship at Thruxton, having placed fourth in the opening round of the RTTC Classic Series at the E99 course near Finchingfield.
