Charles Mitchell secured a convincing victory for the a3crg team when he clocked 40.35 to win North Hampshire Road Club’s 18.5-mile time trial on the H19/11 near North Waltham in Hampshire on Easter Saturday.
The 37-year-old’s time was more than two minutes quicker than his nearest rival veteran Simon Healey (Andover Wheelers who clocked 42.49, which in turn was just three seconds better than his team-mate and third-placed rider, Matthew Buckley.
Mitchell was sixth in the competitive VC St Raphael 16-mile event last month, and looks set to add to his palmares if he can maintain his early season form.
Newbury Road Club’s Rachael Elliott – who was fastest female in the previous day’s High Wycombe CC 10 – also took the women’s prize at the North Hampshire RC event, clocking 44.42 to beat Louisa Vere (VC Venta) by more than eight minutes.
