Orwell Velo team-mates Chris Crabtree and Laura Davies won the men’s and women’s events respectively on Semer Hill organised by CC Sudbury.
Crabtree, aged 35, took his first victory of the season in a winning time of 45.33 seconds while just two hundredth of a second separated the women’s field.
The Semer Hill climb is 700 metres in length with a maximum gradient of 7.7% before easing off at the top making an average gradient of 3.7%.
Crabtree finished second in both the Victoria CC 10.2 and 20-mile event which were both two-up events.
Crabtree led a close four-way battle for victory over the short climb which saw juvenile Oskar Everett (Stowmarket & District CC) fall just short of the victory taking second place less than a second back in 46-03.
Just over a second behind the winner but in third place was Phil Large (Iceni Velo) in 46-98 while Matt Day (Orwell Velo) was cruelly denied a podium position pushed out into fourth in a time of 47-22.
