Harvey McLean (Velo Club St Raphael) clinched his first national honours in the National Closed Circuit Championship for juniors, while juvenile Isabel Sharp (Drag2Zero) won the junior girls’ event.
Home rider McLean, aged 18 and from Andover, flew around his local Thruxton circuit clocking a winning time of 22 minutes and 49 seconds over the 11.7 miles course.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Sharp who was crowned National Youth Champion in August continued to show her talent beating her older rivals to take the junior girls’ event in 26-06.
The National Closed Circuit Championships saw riders complete five laps of the Thruxton Motor Racing Circuit in Hampshire with a mixture of wind conditions for riders to battle against.
McLean finished fifth in both the National 25 and 10 earlier this season but thrived on his home circuit to take a convincing victory by 46 seconds.
National Youth silver medallist Jacob Bush was quickest juvenile and took second place in 23-35 finishing just a second ahead of Charlie Bailey (Lee Valley Youth CC) in third.
Rising talent Sharp finished second in the National Closed Circuit Championship last season but went one better in the junior girls’ event with a winning time of 26-06- 32 seconds quicker than her nearest rival.
Flora Perkins (VC De Londres) finished second in the Youth Championships and took silver once again behind Sharp clocking a time of 26-38.
Just five seconds behind Perkins, Eva Callinan (Liv AWOL) completed the podium positions taking third in 26-43.
