Pat Wright (Paceline RT) and Stephanie Post (VeloSistas TT Team) were fastest man and woman as Sportzmad staged a 10-mile time trial near Abergavenny on Saturday.
The course used the same R10/17 course as last season’s Welsh 10-mile Championship, taking riders along the A40 from just south of Abergavenny to Raglan and back.
Wright, 32, clocked 19.38 to take his first win of the season by seven seconds from Lewis Keightley (Team Bottrill), while David Woodhouse (AS Test Team) was another 26 seconds back in third.
Welsh champion Stephanie Post clocked 23.02 to take the win in the women’s event by 14 seconds from team-mate Nadine Cannon, around 30 seconds slower than her title-winning ride on the same course last season.
For Wright, it is his first win following three runner-up spots in the Dorking CC East Surrey hardriders 29.9, the Farnborough and Camberley CC 10 and the Redhill CC sporting 18.
It was not Post’s first win of the season – she teamed up with Andrea Parish in being the first all-female team in the Port Talbot Wheelers two-up at Glynneath last weekend, while she was second in the Merthyr CC 10 at Resolven the week before.
