James Lowden (Team ASL360) turned around his morning’s defeat to Richard Bussell (RST-Aerocoach) to win the Bec CC hill climb on Sunday afternoon.
Lowden repeated his 2015 win and came close to the course record, clocking 1.44.6. Bussell admitted to a slight lack of focus after his morning victory, turning in a time of 1.50.8 for second place.
Edmund Bishop (VC Meudon) was third and fastest Junior, recording 1.51.5, with the next three spots in the top ten finishing within four tenths of second of each other.
Jocelyn Lowden (Lewes Wanderers CC) took the women’s prize with 2.21.4, beating the morning’s winner, and 2015 National Champion, Maryka Sennena (Paceline RC) into second place, who clocked 2.27.2. Emma Grant (University of Bath CC) was third, finishing in 2.28.3.
Bill Bell (Bigfoot CC) repeated his morning’s efforts, finishing equal sixth overall and taking the Vets title. His time of 1.51.9 equalled that of NFTO Pro Cycling’s George Fowler, whose squad also took the team prize.
