Scratch rider Glyndwr Griffiths (73 Degrees Bicycles) clinched victory in the Bath CC hill climb in a time of two minutes and 14 seconds.

After finishing second in the Severn RC and the VC Walcot hill climbs he made no mistake on this occasion riding to his second win of the season by five seconds.

The UH40 climb on Hinton Hill sees riders tackle a steep gradient from the start and climbs 276 metres within the space of half a mile.

Griffiths, who also won the Chippenham and District Wheelers hill climb last week, was six seconds slower than the long standing course record posted by Phil Marshall (Bath CC) in 1992.

Taking a clear second place on the day was Andrew Kirby (University of Bristol CC) in 2.19 while Richard Sprink (TI Diabetes.info) finished third in 2.25.

Fastest woman on the day was Kate Baker (Performance Cycles) in 3.08, while Gordon Markus (Severn RC) was the fastest veteran over 40 in 2.50 and Harry Tucker (Sulis Scorpions YCA) in 2.56.
