NFTO Pro Cycling’s George Fowler bagged another hill-climb victory as he powered to the top of Hinton Hill in Gloucestershire in the quickest time on Saturday afternoon.
The winner of Mid-Devon CC’s climb at Widecombe the previous weekend, Fowler covered the 800-yard climb in 1:50.6 to win by 3-3 seconds from Glyndwr Griffiths (73 Degrees Bicycles), while the podium was completed by Andrew Kirby (University of Bristol CC), just 1-3 seconds slower.
Just 5.7 seconds separated the top two in the women’s category, which was won by Kate Baker (Performance Cycles) with 2:33.7 while her team-mate Joanne Jago was second, and third went to Bristol South CC’s Christina Gyles, around 30 seconds off the pace set by Baker.
Following his win on Saturday, Fowler was due to travel to Surrey for Sunday’s Bec CC hill-climb on the famous White Lane course near Titsey, and has also entered the following Saturday’s University of Bristol CC climb of Belmont Hill near Bristol.
