Prolific time trial winner Chris Mcnamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport RT) secured another victory when he powered to victory in the Festival Road Club 10 on the G10/42 course near North Holmwood in Surrey on Saturday.
The 41-year-old covered the course from North Holmwood to Clark’s Green along the A24 in a time of 20.05, taking the win by 22 seconds from Rob Sharland (Paceline RT), with Conall Yates (In Gear-Quickvit RT) completing the podium in third.
The result goes some way towards revenge for Mcnamara, who had to settle for third in the Utag Bikes 10-mile event three weeks ago, where Sharland took the win and Mcnamara had to settle for third, 16 seconds behind.
Mcnamara has notched up several good wins this season. He started in great fashion with victory in Southborough and District Wheelers’ New Year’s Day 10, and then also won the VC St Raphael hardriders 16-mile event as he honed his early-season form.
Among his other wins are the Sussex CA 25, Southern Counties CU 10 and Elite Cycling 10 in May, as well as the Brighton Excelsior 10 and 25 over one weekend in July.
Conall Yates took third spot by just two seconds from fourth-placed Eddie Allen (Redmon CC), with Mark Perry (Look Mum no Hands!) fifth, another seven seconds back.
Katie Crowe (Dulwich Paragon CC) was the fastest female with 24.43, giving her the win in that category by more than a minute from Dulwich Paragon team-mate Kathryn Morris with 25.57, while Deborah Percival (34 Nomads) was third with 27.04.
