Josh Newbould (Banbury Star Cyclists’ Club) was the fastest rider in the University of Bristol CC 10-mile time trial, while Laura Pittard (Brother UK) was the fastest rider in the women’s event.

The U7B course is an out and back course that begins just north of Woodford and heads north up the A38 until passing Gossington where riders turn back and head for home which is just short of the start line.

Newbould went off as the scratch-man for the event which he justified by completing the 10-mile course in 20:54, the only sub-21 minute rider of the event.

Second place went to Mike Skidmore (Cheltenham & County CC) who completed his ride in 21:41, while third spot was secured by Tom Burke-Nott (Bristol South CC) in 22-31.

Since his first ride of 2022, Newbould has only failed to make the podium once where he finished fifth in the Coventry CC 10, though despite the good form this is only his second win of the season - the other coming in the Chippenham & District Wheelers 10 back in April.

As for the rest of this month Newbould is next hoping to be in action in the Hemel Hempstead CC 10 on the 18th June.

In the women’s event it was Laura Pittard that rode the fastest time, 24:30 being the winning ride.

The other two women scheduled to ride in the event did not start and therefore the women’s podium consisted of just first place Pittard, who impressively finished 9th overall.

26-year-old Pittard only has one event to her CTT record this year, that being the National Team Time Trial Championship which her team managed to win. Having had an inactive 2022 in terms of open time trial riding, she is scheduled to ride again at the end of this month as she has a pending request for the Oxonian CC 25 on the 26th June.
