Nick Partridge (VC Baracchi) took a narrow victory by just nine seconds in the Godric CC 10, while Denise Hurren (Sole Bay CC) was a more convincing women’s winner.

Scratch rider and veteran Partridge took his first win of the season recording a winning time of 20 minutes and 22 seconds.

The B10/43 saw riders start outside Harleston in Norfolk before riders competed out and back along the A143 over to Bungay before making the return journey.

Conditions were favourable for the course with a tailwind on the slightly longer outward leg before battling a headwind on the return journey.

Partridge, aged 44, finished second in the Great Yarmouth CC 25 last month beaten by 10 seconds despite clocking 52-14.

However, the veteran was not to be denied this time out adding to his win in the Eastern Counties CA 25 last season.

A close battle for the podium positions saw veteran Stuart Fairweather (Loose Cannons Conditioning) take second nine seconds back in 20-31 while there was a tie for third between Darran Bennett (Ely & Dist CC) and Robert Golding (Ely & District CC) who both finished a further 13 seconds back (20-44).

Spindata had predicted a close-run thing between Partridge and Darran Bennett, but Partridge’s time on the day was 14 seconds faster, while Bennett had to settle for joint third.

In the women’s event Hurren added another win to her collection recording a winning time of 23 minutes and 26 seconds.

Hurren, aged 57, also won the Great Yarmouth CC 25 on her last time out and was the winner once again.

Fellow veteran Julia Freeman (Easterly RC) finished second in 24-58 while Jo Fisk (Ride Harder) completed the podium positions in third (25-28).

Hurren had been chosen by Spindata as the winner predicting a time of 32-22 which was not far out as in reality she finished four seconds slower.
