Lauren Creamer clinched victory as fastest woman in a course record time at the North Road CC Memorial 25-mile time trial while Rob Walker was crowned fastest man on Saturday morning.
Riding for Velo Fixers, Creamer completed the route in 58-44 to beat the record by one second, to finish ahead of Elspeth Grace from Welwyn Wheelers who clocked 1-00-48 while third place was sealed by Hayley Rigby (Giant Camden Team Liv), 48 seconds further back in 1-01-36.
In the men’s event Walker clocked 51-45 as the Ward WheelZ rider beat Luke Clarke (TMG Horizon Cycling Team) to victory by 36 seconds, while brother and club-mate Ross Clarke was exactly a minute further back in 53-21.
John Jones, from Verulam Really Moving, was fastest veteran in 56-45, while Andrew Bradley (Hemel Hempstead CC) was best veteran on standard with a plus of 12-27, with Grace finishing as fastest Espoir.
This was Walker’s first open time trial of the season so far, and he is due to ride again next Sunday at the National Team Time Trial Championships over a 29.2-mile course near Gunthorpe in Nottinghamshire.
This 25-mile course starts just south of Wrestlingworth crossroads and slightly north of Common Farm before proceeding south to Guilden Morden before a left turn leading to Singay cum Wendy. Riders then bear left to Tadlow and onwards to Guilden Morden, passing the start to repeat the circuit and finishing south of Common Farm.
