Grant Bigham and Susan Semple were triumphant at a breezy Kent Valley RC 10-mile time trial on Saturday evening.
WattShop rider Bigham was the only competitor to go under 19-00, finishing in 18-56 to win the men’s event ahead of talented junior Patrick Casey (Team Lifting Gear products) who set a time of 19-10, while third place was earned by Beacon Wheelers’ Richard Nesfield in 19-20.
A strong ride from Stafford RC’s Semple helped her to success in the women’s event in 23-05, with second place going to Emma Houterman (North Lancs RC) in 23-39, with Karen Bailey of East Lancs RC completing the podium in 23-47.
The event, on course L1015, starts alongside the A590 then proceeds south-west to encircle the roundabout on Lindale after five miles, retracing past Levens to finish just short of Levens Bridge.
Victory ensures Bigham maintains his fine form in 2022, with this his third victory after triumphing in the WCTTA and SCCA 30mile time trial on May 8 and then the VTTA East Midlands 25-mile on June 4, in addition to runners-up spots at the Manchester & District Ladies CA 10 and Stafford RC 10.
