Alex Doherty and Becky Ridge were victorious in the solo time trial categories as Lee Valley CC staged a 10-mile event at Six Mile Bottom in Cambridgeshire on Saturday.
38-year-old Doherty (Drag2zero) covered the popular E2/10 course in 19-19 to take the win by 16 seconds from James Richards (Ward WheelZ) with Andrew Hastings (Haste CC) being just two seconds further back in third spot overall.
41-year-old Ridge (TPH Racing) clocked 22-16 to win the women’s prize by 1-04 from a3crg stalwart Kirsty McSeveney.
This was Doherty’s first open time trial of the season so far, but the win comes after he placed 22nd in the same event last season. He is next due to be in action at the VTTA (London and Home Counties) 10 on July 17.
This win makes it three victories so far for Becky Ridge this season, having won the East District CA 10 last month as well as the Stowmarket & Dist CC 20 back in April. She is next due to be in action at the Wolsey Road Club 10 next weekend, while she has also entered the National 10-Mile Championships next month.
The event also featured a middlemarkers event which was won by Team Bottrill’s Richard Mellor in 23-10, which was 21 seconds better than Dan Charlston (High Wycombe CC) in second.
Joanna Butcher (CC Sudbury) clocked 27-44 to take the women’s middlemarkers prize by almost three minutes from runner-up Denese Hallahan (Wisbech Wheelers).
And in the tandems event Lincoln Wheelers duo Andy Newham and Dave Mason clocked 21-52 on their tandem trike to take the win by 2-20 from Maldon & District pairing of Christopher and Joanne York.
