Fastest at the Tickhill Velo Club 10-mile event in South Yorkshire on Saturday was Bevan Jones (53eleven), while Rebecca Lineker (Velo Bavarian) was quickest of the women.
Jones, 23 and riding for 53eleven, clocked 20-26 to take victory on the O10/1 course near Hatfield Woodhouse by 13 seconds from Mark Wolstenholme (Swift Racing), while Team Bottrill duo Julian Ramsbottom and Neal Parkin tied for third place, each covering the distance in 20-44.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Lineker (Velo Bavarian) was quickest female in 24-17, just two seconds faster than Lindsy James (Tickhill Velo Club), while third place went to Sherwood CC veteran Elaine Simpson with 25-13.
32-year-old triathlete Lineker from Derbyshire has now won her last five open time trials following victories at the Sherwood CC 10, Sheffrec CC 19, Rotherham Wheelers 10 and Peak Road Club 17. The only event she hasn’t won this season is the Matlock CC 25 back in March where she had to settle for second.
The event also incorporated a tricycle event, with Lez Young (Lincoln Wheelers) taking the win in 27-17. Best tandem trike was Steve Brown and Phillip Johnson of Ravensthorpe CC who covered the course in 24-35.
Bevan Jones has enjoyed plenty of victories this season. He has won all four rounds of the City Road Club Hull and Vive le Velo 10-mile series, and also won the Sowerby Sunday Club 10 and the Drighlington BC 10 in June.
His next appearance in an open time trial looks set to be the National 10-Mile Championship in three weeks. 16th at the National 50, Jones will be looking to break into the top ten at the National 10.
