Alison Fovargue

Ollie Hucks (Saint Piran) was the quickest male rider in the Coalville Wheelers 10-mile time trial, while Alison Fovargue (Team Empella Cyclocross.com) was fastest woman.

Hucks recorded a winning time of 20:21 which was 18 seconds quicker than the next fastest rider.

In second place was scratch man Michael Gill (Saint Piran) who completed the course in 20:39, while Oliver Peckover (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling) came home third in 20:44.

For Hucks this was his first victory of the season having finished third in his first outing of 2022, the Maidenhead and District CC 29.5 two weeks ago. After finishing in the top ten of the National 10-Mile Championships last season, Hucks looks on track for another impressive year.

In the women’s event Fovargue was quickest, covering the A10/34 course in 25:37.

In second place was Chloe Vickers (Loughborough Lightning/ TRG) who clocked in at 26:29, a time just nine seconds quicker than the 26:38 ridden by third-placed Hayley Moore of Ilkeston CC.

Ollie Hucks

This was Fovargue’s first open time trial of the year so far, having ridden just three last season. But she is a regular in road and track events and competed at the British Masters National Track Championships last November.

The fastest veterans were Simon Law (Team Jewson) 23:12 and Gillian Campbell (Born to Bike – Bridgtown Cycles) 28:55.

The A10/34 circuit near Coalville begins north of Griffydam and takes riders anti clockwise through Breedon on the Hill before jumping on to the A42, passing through Newbold and eventually ending outside Osgathorpe, on the Ashby Road.
