Norris and Salisbury charge to victories in Oxonian 10

Scratch rider Luke Norris (Banbury Star CC) took his second victory of the season in the Oxonian 10, while Ingrid Salisbury (Mercedes AMG Petronas) was a clear winner in the women’s event.

Norris won the PDQ Cycle Coaching 10 last month and was pushed all the way on this occasion with his time of 19 minutes and 52 seconds just seven seconds clear of his nearest rival.

The Oxonian Open 10 was held on the fast H10/17R course with an 8am start and organisers had a higher than usual entry of 67 riders who were greeted by sunny weather conditions and light winds.

Riders started on the A420 before heading easterly on the longest leg through the finish near Southmoor and passing through Tubney Wood to the turn.

Norris was beaten on his last outing placing second in the Banbury Star Hardriders 23.5 but went one place better on the flatter terrain.

George Skinner (Primera-Teamjobs) won the …a3crg Ten last weekend but was beaten by just seven seconds this time clocking 19-59.

Rob West (AeroCoach) won a close battle for third with his time of 20-21 just two seconds faster than Dave Bell (Cambridge CC) while Rad Hart-George (Mickey Cranks Cycling Club) finished a further six seconds back (20-29).

The quickest veteran on standard was Gregory Woodford (Reading CC) with his time of 21-17 equating to +06:34.

Linda Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) was second veteran on standard with +06:14 while Rob West (AeroCoach) was third (+06:11).

Meanwhile, Banbury Star won the team prize with their side consisting of Luke Norris, Josh Newbould and Mark Davis).

Host club Oxonian were the second team while Bicester Millenium were third.

In the women’s event Salisbury was a clear victor with her time of 23-09 which was some 35 seconds clear of her nearest challenger.

Salisbury was beaten by just three seconds in the Finsbury Park CC 50 on her last outing but went one better this time out.

Laura Pittard (Brother UK – Team OnForm) won the Reading CC 25 in her last event and led the charge behind taking second in 23-44.

Meanwhile, Aimee Jones (Cowley Road Condors) finished third in 24-12 which was 21 seconds faster than quickest veteran on scratch and standard Linda Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) clocking 24-33.
