The scratch team of Andrew Hastings (Haste CC) and Nicholas Candy (Finchley RT) took victory by over a minute in the CC London 2-up TTT over 18.2 miles.

Meanwhile, the Team LDN pairing of Danielle Shrosbree and Polly Mason were also in impressive form winning the women’s event by over two minutes.

The F710 course starts and finishes near Brickendon before travelling north to Horn’s Mill before meeting the B158 and then turning off to Little Berkhamsted and Epping Green before returning to the finish.

Using mostly quite roads the course is quite sporting with several short climbs to test the strength of riders.

It was Hastings’ first attempt at a 2-up having finished second solo in the London Phoenix 9.2 over a sporting course earlier this month.

He was joined in the winning pairing by under-23 rider Candy whose season best before the win was a sixth solo place in the Welwyn Wheelers Cycling Club hilly 31.1.

The pairing were in fine form as a light breeze and none of the forecast rain helped them post a winning time of 39-32.

Team LDN led the charge for second with their pairing of Benedict Thompson and Martin Smith posting a time of 40-49 which was 11 seconds quicker than Tom Elwood (Team LDN) and Tom Wiley (Team Brother UK) in 41-10.

The quickest veteran pairing on scratch was the CC London pair of Iain McNaught and Robert Warren in 44-32.

They narrowly beat CC Luton riders Kieron Lewis and Tim Davies by just four seconds.

Shrosbree had been part of a mixed gender team in last year’s event which finished third overall in a time of 47-12.

On his occasion she was joined by team-mate Mason in her second open event and the pair posted an unbeatable time of 46-09.

Veteran pairing Kimberley Burrows and Kathryn Hughes (Onyx RT) led the battle behind taking second in 48-12.

They were sandwiched by another Team LDN team comprising of Amy Marks and Francesca Cutts in third.

Fastest juvenile was Ellen Rehnberg (Rapha Cycling Club) who was joined by senior rider Hester Van Schalkwyk (Greenwich Tritons Tri Club) with the pair finishing in 1-06-07.
