Host club rider Jake Sargent (FTP Fulfil The Potential Racing) and Megan Dickerson (Škoda DSI Cycling Academy) smashed course records on their way to winning the men’s and women’s events at the FTP Racing 100.
Sargent, from Bristol, knocked a massive 17 minutes off the previous men’s mark to win the event in three hours, 40 minutes and 24 seconds.
The 21-year-old, finished third in the FTP Racing 50 on the same circuit last month but went two places better over the longer distance.
The U86/100 saw riders complete five full laps of the U86/100 course of 20 miles.
Riders headed out on the B4040 west towards Malmesbury before briefly joining the A429 south and then turning onto the B4042 back past Little Somerford and then heading north back to the finish.
After four laps the out and back section on the B4040 to Malmesbury and back was used to complete the course.
The previous course record held by Matt Burden of 3-57-50, set in 2015, was broken three times during the event.
Sargent was pushed all the way for victory by Ross Holland (Saint Piran) finishing a minute and 39 seconds down in 3-42-03.
Meanwhile, Robert Grover (Rogue Racing) completed the top three placings also breaking the previous course mark in 3-55-00.
The veteran’s category on scratch was a close one with Neil Dunnage (PDQ Cycle Coaching) clocking 4-02-53 which was 25 seconds quicker than Tony Chapman (Frome and District Wheelers) in 4-03-18 while Roy Carless (Swindon Road Club) placed third (4-15-23).
Alex Raynard (Team Lifting Gear Products/Cycles In Motion) won the road bike event clocking 4-07-10 to take his first victory of the season.
Timothy Welsh (Cambridge University CC) finished second in 4-10-13 while veteran Karl Norris (360VRT) finished third (4-24-58).
In the women’s event Dickerson, from Bristol, completed a weekend double having also won The University of Bristol Cycling Club 10 the previous day.
The 24-year-old was chasing the previous course record of 4-36-46 and knocked almost 23 minutes off that marker with a time of 4-13-58.
Emily-Kate Walton (Bristol South Cycling Club) also beat the previous course record finishing second in 4-33-53 while Linsey Lyes (The Ark Cycles) finished third in 4-39-08.
