Oliver Peckover (UpShift Nutrition RT) marked his 23rd birthday by clocking a personal best on his way to taking victory in the Melton Olympic CC 10, while Madeleine Gammons (Jadan CycleSpace-Vive Le Velo) took a convincing win in the women’s race.
Peckover celebrated his birthday a day before the event and clocked a winning time of 18 minutes and 44 seconds to win the event by 20 seconds.
Good conditions prevailed on the A46 north of Bingham but unfortunately for riders they faced a stiff breeze on the longer outward leg on the out and back course which slowed times.
Despite the tough outward leg Peckover clocked an average speed of 32 miles per hour to take his fifth win of the season.
Alex Pritchard (AeroLab Ward Wheelz) also set a personal best time of 19-04 for second place proving his threat for future weeks.
Meanwhile Ollie Hucks (Nopinz Motip Race Team) and quickest veteran on scratch was Richard Oakes (Team Ohten Aveas) had to share third place both clocking 19-15.
Michael Smith (Raw Sport Performance Coaching) was second veteran on scratch in 20-14 while Mark Ellis (Mercedes AMG Petronas CC) was third (20-27).
The team award was very tightly fought with Rose Race Team (Jack Levick, Billy Jarish and George Thompson) producing an aggregate time of 1-01-13 to beat Team Ohten Aveas (Oakes, Callum Twelves and Rob Muzio) by a mere four seconds.
However, Team Ohten Aveas was clear winner of the team award based on standard times for the over-40s with Oakes, Muzio and Mike Twelves.
Oakes also won on individual standard (+7:46) from Geoff Platts (Team Bottrill) (+6:58) who continues to produce very impressive rides and Ellis in third (+6.57).
Meanwhile, Callum Twelves (Team Ohten Aveas) was fastest junior finishing in a time of 21-00.
Gammons, from Bourne, in Lincolnshire, took her opening win of the season in a time of 23-03.
The 21-year-old did go eight seconds faster in the Vive le Velo 10 earlier this month but was pushed into second on that occasion.
Veteran Claire Davies (Mark White Coaching RT) was second woman in 25-05 while Pamela Moore (Coalville Whs) was third clocking 27-14.
