Jason Bouttell (Team Vision Racing-Silverhook) took victory by more than two minutes in the Stowmarket & District CC 20-mile time trial on Saturday, while Amy Marks (Team LDN) was quickest female.
Bouttell, 35 and from Newmarket, got his 2021 season off to a great start with the win, clocking 41-04 which was a whopping 2-23 faster than his nearest rival Lloyd Chapman (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning), while James Gelsthorpe (Velo-One CT) was another 23 seconds back in third spot.
Marks, 26 and from London, clocked 50-22 to take the women’s prize by almost a minute from Gilliam Leech (Peaks Sports Racing), while Ann Shuttleworth (Cambridge CC) was another 3-40 behind in third.
The BS33 course begins near Winston and heads out onto the A1120 at Pettaugh then loops anti-clockwise through Ashfield cum Thorpe and up to Occold before coming back down Eye Road to the finish just north of Debenham.
This was also Amy Marks’ first open time trial ride of the season so far, but she will target more glory when she rides the CC London two-up 9.2-mile event next month.
Just outside of the virtual podium places, fourth spot went to Matt Jacobs (Loose Cannon’s Conditioning) with 44-26, while just nine seconds further back in fifth was Tom Heal (Vredestein Basso).
The first of a clutch of veterans came next in sixth spot, Dave Clark (Orwell Velo) clocking 45-54.
