Under-23 rider George Mills-Keeling (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling) took his second open victory of the season in the Wrekinsport 10, while Deb Hutson-Lumb (Nova Raiders CC) won the women’s event.
Shropshire-based Mills-Keeling also won the Race Rapid 10 the previous week and took his latest win in a time of 19 minutes and 52 seconds in tough conditions.
An extremely windy day meant riders enjoyed a tailwind on the outward leg of the D10/23 which went north westerly on the A53 passing Hodnet before turning for home at Tern Hill.
However, a headwind on the return leg made conditions tough for riders and slowed times.
Despite the conditions Mills-Keeling clocked an average speed over 30 miles per hour on his way to winning by 16 seconds.
In a closely fought podium George Evans (Team Bottrill) finishing second in 20-08 while Luke Pollard (Royal Air Force CA) took third a further five seconds back.
Two junior riders placed in the top 10 with Ben Pierce (Mid Shropshire Whls) in fifth (21-03) and Henri Bedford (Revolutions Racing) seventh in 21-12.
The women’s competition was also closely fought with local veteran rider Hutson-Lumb finishing in 24-04.
She finished 20 seconds quicker than Monica Greenwood (Macclesfield Whls) in 24-24 while juvenile Carys Blowers (Mid Shropshire Whls) took third in 25-43.
