trainSharp duo Howard Shaw and Sally Turner were fastest male and female riders respectively at the East Sussex CA 50-mile time trial near East Hoathly on Sunday.
Shaw, 33 and from Eastbourne clocked 1-48-28 for the G50/90 course to take the win by exactly one and a half minutes, while Lewes Wanderers’ Nick Dwyer was second and Marc Townsend (Eastbourne Rovers) was third.
And in the women’s event, Sally Turner (trainSharp) covered the distance in 2-03-23 to take victory by almost five minutes from team-mate Lisa Davis.
The event incorporated the VTTA Surrey/Sussex Championships, and the Aldershot Cup and VTTA Medal went to winner Nick Dwyer, the Lewes Wanderers rider who was second overall, whose age standard was an impressive +31.34.
There were good rides throughout the field, with prize money spread well thanks to the one rider one prize ruling.
George Welfare (Eastbourne Rovers) received the prize for fastest under-40 rider with 1-56-42, while Dan Pullen (N+1 Lindfield Coffee Works clocking 1-57-02 to take the 40-44 age category.
The 50-54 event was won by David Clark (Eastbourne Rovers) with 1-59-38, while Brett Davis (Lewes Wanderers CC) was top 45-49 rider with 1-56-00.
Brighton Mitre CC’s Paul Hulse clocked 2-27-02 and was the fastest 55-59 year old, while Peter Baker (Lewes Wanderers CC) was fastest 60-64 with 2-07-49 and Robert Gilmour (Hounslow & Dist Wh) was top over-65 rider with 2-08-18.
Eastbourne Rovers CC won the team prize with Marc Townsend, George Welfare and David Clark combining for 5-47-32 which gave them the win by just over two minutes from trainSharp.
