Kate Giddings and Joseph Dobson came out on top on the undulating Cheshire hills in the Birkenhead North End CC hilly 22 on Good Friday.
28-year-old Dobson from New Mills spearheaded a Manchester Bicycle Club 1-2 with Alex Royle having to settle for a narrow second.
Royle had laid a marker down 20 minutes prior to Dobson’s finish but Royle’s 45-04 which was over a minute better than anyone else, wasn’t enough to keep his team-mate at bay.
Dobson eclipsed the marker by seven seconds with a 44-57 adding to one victory and two second places already achieved this season.
Royle has had a busy 2019 season to say the least, competing nine time previously with an impressive five wins.
Thomas Brazier (Synergy Cycles Racing Team) capped off the podium in 46-18 for his second podium in three events this year.
Kate Giddings (Liverpool Century RC) kicked off her year in style with a comfortable 34-second victory.
32-year-old Giddings had multiple victories to her name last season but will be looking to improve further. The time of 54-11 and event victory will no doubt be a confidence boost looking forward to the summer time trialling.
Keri Parton (Pro Vision Cycle Clothing) finished second in 54-45 with Rebecca Holland in third with 57-54.
In other categories, fifth placed David James Williams (Velotik Racing Team) was fastest veteran in 46-58, Adam Smith (Innovation Racing) was fastest junior in 48-58 and home club rider Max Jones was quickest juvenile in 59-04.
