Morgan Curle and Lauren Johnston topped the podium as fastest male and female respectively at the Sodbury Cycle Sport hill climb that took place at Coombe Hill near Wotton Under Edge in Gloucestershire on Saturday morning.
Espoir Curle (Rouge Racing) powered his way to victory in a time of 5-16 to win by a margin of just one second.
The 19-year-old has started his hill climb season in strong fashion after finishing second at the Dursley Road Club event at the start of the month.
Curle will be hoping his winning form can continue on Sunday, as he is set to ride at the Mid-Devon CC hill climb on the S20 course.
Phil Stonelake (Bristol Road Club) finished in second with a time of 5-17 to miss out on the top step by just one second.
This was Stonelake’s third podium finish of the hill climb season, having achieved a second place at the Somerset Road Club event and third at the Dursley Road Club hill climb respectively.
Oscar Hutchins completed the podium make up after finishing his run with a time of 5-20.
Lauren Johnston (Avid Sport) topped the podium in the women’s event after finishing her run with a time of 6-29 respectively.
This was the 25-year-old’s first victory of the hill climb season and last topped the podium at the Severn RC 10 at the end of June.
She will be looking to continue her winning form over the coming weeks as she is set to ride at the VC Walcot hill climb at the beginning of October.
