Megan Dickerson added another win to her palmares, while Arthur Franklin was fastest male in the University of Bristol CC 10-mile event in Gloucestershire on Saturday.
33-year-old Portishead CC rider Franklin opened his 2019 account in good fashion with a 27-second victory over the course near Falfield.
A three-time winner last season, this would be the 33-year-old’s maiden open event ride of the season and will no doubt be pleased with his return, being the only person under the 20-minute barrier with a time if 19-46.
Jonathan Shubert (Arctic Tacx RT) had to settle for a silver medal for the second consecutive start this year. His time of 20-13 was enough to narrowly pip Ross Holland (Cheltenham & County CC) who finished third in 20-15.
22-year-old Dickerson (Bristol South CC) laid waste to the rest of the field yet again this year, winning the women’s category with a time of 22-08.
A 42 second gap to second place gave Dickerson her fifth win in as many races in 2019 and if she hadn’t done already, she surely has asserted herself as one to watch in the women’s categories this season.
Elizabeth Bennett (Team Jadan-Weldtite / Vive Le Velo) finished second to Dickerson with a time of 22-50 while current National 10-mile junior silver medallist turned Espoir Pfeiffer Georgi was third a further 17 seconds back in 23-07.
Quickest veteran on the day was Jonathan Gates (Royal Air Force CC) in a time of 20-19 finishing fifth overall.
