Aileen Clyde took the women’s victory as GTR-Return to Life dominated the men’s prizes with Chris Smart taking the win in Velo Club Vitesse’s 13.6-mile time trial on Sunday.
GTR-Return to Life filled four of the top five spots led by 38-year-old Smart, a five-time open event winner in 2018 who made his first appearance of the year on Sunday, claiming a 16-second victory.
Setting off last, his time of 29-14 beat the 29-30 set around 20-minutes prior by Hawick CC’s Liam Beaty.
Beaty equalled his previous best finish of second while splitting the GTR-Return to Life quartet in the top five.
Douglas Watson (GT-Return to Life) was the third quickest man on the day only 10 seconds behind Beaty in 29-50, while his team-mates William Bonar and Lewis Duff trailed in fourth and fifth respectively.
In the women’s category, Aileen Clyde (RT 23) was a unanimous victor, powering around the course over two minutes ahead of her nearest rival.
The event is Clyde’s maiden victory after recording three previous podiums in 2018.
Aileen Fisher (Ayr Roads CC) came second in 40-31 while Grace Inglis (Glasgow University CC) was only a further place behind overall and third woman in 40-51.
Third-placed man overall Douglas Watson claimed the fastest veteran prize while Murray Lawson (East Kilbride Road Club) topped the juvenile placings in 34-34.
