Professional rider Steve Cummings powered to victory by over two minutes in the Manchester & District TTA 25 while Deborah Moss (Team Merlin) won the women’s event.
Dimension Data rider Cummings riding under Birkenhead North End CC took a winning time of 50 minutes and 21 seconds in mixed conditions.
The 38-year-old from West Kirby was BC National Time Trial and Road Race Champion in 2017 and has two Tour de France stage victories to his name.
Due to roadworks the course was moved from the planned J2/9 course to the J4/8 near Middlewich.
A good field of 136 entrants were met with changeable weather which included sun, rain, hail and wind during the event. The revised course saw riders travel in a triangular circuit completed twice with an additional starting loop.
After winning the Birkenhead North End 22 last month Joseph Dobson (Manchester Bicycle Club) had to settle for second on this occasion finishing in 52.56.
Fastest veteran on the day Darren Maironis (Transition Race Team) took third place overall a further 16 seconds behind in 53.12.
In the women’s event veteran rider Moss, 48 and from Wrightington in Lancashire, took an emphatic win by over five minutes, clocking one hour and 40 seconds.
Moss also took victory in the VTTA 25 last month and was again on form despite the conditions on this occasion.
Leading the chase behind was Michelle Fairclough (Salford Cycling Club) finishing in 1:06.19 for second while Caroline Ainscough (Knutsford Tri Club) took third in 1:06.55.
Meanwhile fastest espoir was James Brayford (Lyme Racing Club) 1:00.47 while Tristan Pilling (Team SB Hub) was quickest junior in 58.02.
