Olivia Webb powered to victory in the Velopace hill-climb, while Rowan Brackston was fastest male and made it three in a row at the event on Church Street, Willingdon.
London Dynamo rider Rowan Brackston not only made it three wins on his palmares for the year, but made it his third Velopace hill-climb win in a row after wins in 2016 and 2017.
He has shown he is still performing at a high level after stopping the clock on 3-38.52, a time 10.96 seconds superior to that of second place.
The second step up on the podium was taken by just one man this year after it was shared in last year’s running. David Ross (LFGSS CC) who finished fourth last year was the man to claim the second spot with a time of 3-49.46.
Theo Tadros (TrainSharp) produced his best ride yet in terms of finishing place as he completed the podium in third.
The youngster also claimed the junior category prize as he finished in a time of 3-51.3 – Tadros had a good day riding two events finishing fourth in the East Sussex CA hill-climb earlier in the day.
A string of second places in hill-climbing for Olivia Webb (Eastbourne Rovers CC) has been improved on over the weekend as like many other riders in this race, featured in the East Sussex event earlier in the day.
Webb went on to win the East Sussex CA with a time of 5-17.1 and matched that feat around four hours later in the Velopace event, a time of 4-53.29 gave her a 32 second victory.
Gemma Hobson (Sussex Nomads CC) was second in 5-25.31 with Debbie Percival (Kent Velo Girls/Boys) coming third a further 17 seconds off the pace in 5-42.22.
Richard Cartland couldn’t make it back to back podiums for the day, finishing fourth here after a third place in the East Sussex hill-climb but did manage to take the quickest veterans prize nonetheless.
