Simon Beldon and Fiona Sharp were fastest male and female riders respectively as Harrogate Nova CC staged a 15-mile time trial in North Yorkshire on Saturday.
Beldon, the 48-year-old Team Bottrill-Vanguard rider from Leeds, covered the V226 course in an impressive time of 30.43 to take the win by 35 seconds from his nearest rival, Team Swift’s Richard Sharp.
Third spot went to Stephen Ayres (Bronte Wheelers) who was another 17 seconds off the pace, while Sharp’s wife Fiona Sharp was the fastest female, the Team Swift rider clocking 36.11.
A counting event in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation Points Series, the event used the V226 which took the riders from Arkendale Road to Boroughbridge and Walshford.
It was Beldon’s second win of the year so far following his move to Team Bottrill where he is also a coach, coming after victory in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 10-mile event a fortnight earlier where he also left Richard Sharp settling for second.
Outside of the top three, Philip Graves (NOPINZ) had to settle for fourth spot in 32.09, 20 seconds ahead of Jonathan Robinson (Army CU) in fifth.
While Fiona Sharp was fastest female with her time of 36.11, second spot went to Kirsty Bramley, another Team Swift rider who clocked 36.36, while Madeline Moore (TORQ Performance) was third female with 37.26.
Fastest junior rider was Tobias Edwards, the Huddersfield Star Wheelers talent who clocked 36.03 to place 28th overall.
