Oliver Stockwell (Welwyn Wheelers) set a provisional new juvenile competition record in the VC Norwich 25-mile time trial in Norfolk, while Matthew Senter (Team Velovelocity) and Denise Hurren (Sole Bay Cycle Sport) took the men’s and women’s victories.

Stockwell, 15 and from Hertfordshire, set a blistering time of 48 minutes and 46 seconds to break the previous record set in 2009 of 50.22 (subject to confirmation).

However, he was beaten into second place overall by Senter who clocked 47 minutes and 52 seconds for victory.

Hurren took the women’s course record in a time of 55.57 to take victory by three seconds on a fast afternoon when several personal bests were taken.

A break in the rain made for fast conditions on the out and back B25/8 course held on the flat A1 between Thetford and Wymondham.

Senter continued his run of winning form to clinch his second victory of the week after also taking top spot in the VC Baracchi 10 on Bank Holiday Monday.

Stockwell, who was riding his first open 25 since February 2016, knocked over 20 minutes off his personal best set on that occasion to take second.

Joe Skipper (Team Skipper) took third place in 48.55, finishing a single second ahead of Ben Stancombe (Team Velovelocity).

The women’s event was a close affair with veteran rider Hurren finishing three seconds faster than Becky Schofield (Tri-Anglia Triathlon Club) with Ann Shuttleworth (Braintree Velo CRC) taking third in 1:13.41.

Hurren’s time was also good enough for second in the veteran on standard competition won by Chris Roberts (Team Pedal Revolution).
