Christopher Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) got the better of his brother Nicholas to take the plaudits in a comfortable win by over a minute.
The National Closed Circuit Championship silver medallist in 2015 maintained his impressive form, completing the course in 19-38. Chris won the same event last season but his sub 20-minute time smashed last years 20-51 by 1-19.
The 22- year-old sailed to victory over brother Nicholas Fennell (Thanet RC) and will look to continue his 2017 dominance and early 2018 form in the VTTA National Championship 30-mile event on the 29th April.
Nicholas had a solid weekend after finishing second the day prior in the Catford CC 10-mile time trial.
Nicholas has had a good start to 2018 in Kent, taking victory in the VTTA Kent 10 in March but was beaten by brother Chris earlier this month in West Kent RC’s 10-mile time trial. Nic went out in a 20-45 which would have been enough for victory in 2017.
Oliver Robinson (Team Wiggins) also featured in Saturday’s Catford CC 10 and mirrored his third place in that event to take the last step on the podium, finishing 33 seconds adrift of Nic Fennell in second. His time of 21-18 edged out Mike Piper (Abellio – SFA RT) by three seconds.
The women’s category prize was taken by Rebecca Wilson (Rye & District Wheelers CC). The 53-year-old veteran posted a 27-04 to improve on a best 2018 finish of fifth-place in the Southborough & District Wheelers 10 back in January.
In other categories, Rob Stephenson (Southborough & District Wheelers) was the fastest veteran of the day – only finishing five seconds behind third place, a time of 20-12 was enough for a fourth overall finish.
Fabien Large (Direct Power CT) was the only junior to feature in the field of 51 with the young rider finishing equal tenth overall, coming home in 22-53.
