Hamish Bond

Hamish Bond topped the standings at a popular charity time trial in Dunstable on Saturday, recording an excellent time in the process.

The Aero Coach rider completed the course in a time of 17.54 to take victory, the only rider to stop the clock under 18 minutes.

Bond is a regular winner of time trial events, racking up victories in a number of events last year. However, this isn’t the fastest he’s gone over 10 miles, he has previously completed the distance in 17.48.

Chris Boddy of Didcot Phoenix was also in good form and came second with a time of 18.55, 1.01 slower than Bond.

The next five riders were separated by just eight seconds and there was a tie for third place with Luke Clarke of TMG Horizon and Robert West of Aero Coach both clocking 19.32.

The result was enough to land West the first veteran prize.

Molly Patch

Drag2Zero’s Mark Jones can consider himself very unlucky to have missed out on a podium place, just a second off their pace with a time of 19.33.

Molly Patch of Fusion TT scored a fantastic result in the women’s category, winning with a time of 21.08, 1.31 ahead of her closest competitor, Helen Reynolds of Hemel Hempstead CC.

Jennifer Ellis of Team MK was third, beating Danuta Tinn of Maidenhead & District CC by just one second in 22.55.

There were 300 entries for the event but only 150 could be accepted. All entrants got a free sports massage and feedback for the event was very positive.

Proceeds from the entries went to charity with a cake stall also raising funds. The money is going to the Glandfield Group – an organisation which takes disabled children on holiday to France with the next trip running in August.
