Becky Murley (Wisbech Wheelers) and Paul Hart (Southend Wheelers) were victorious in the Eastern Counties CA 25-mile time trial on Sunday morning.

Becky Murley

Hart has tasted success in previous ECCA events this year – taking a 50-mile victory earlier in May and the Southend Wheelers rider made it two in two taking the top prize by a margin of 1-32.

In the 38-year-old’s third start of the year, the Ramsden Heath residents’ time of 48-29 led him to his third victory of the year.

Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) was the man who trailed Hart but continued an impressive season so far taking his fifth top-five finish, marking a third podium finish for the 37-year-old.

Pardoe could not match the pace of winner Paul Hart but did a good job of powering through the Cambridgeshire roads to cement his second place ahead of David Harding of Chelmer CC crossing the line just outside of Newmarket with a time of 50-01.

Harding’s run of 50-34 secured only his second podium finish of the 2018 season as he came home a comfortable 48-seconds ahead of Rob Young to claim third spot.

Harding’s previous top-three had come earlier in May at the ECCA (Weekend of Cycling) 10-mile event but has failed to capitalise on that performance in his last three races so he will be pleased with a return to the major placings.

Becky Murley (Wisbech Whs) powered her way to a comfortable victory in the women’s category ahead of Julia Freeman.

Murley surpassed her second place from last weeks VTTA 25 as she ran out the winner by a sizeable gap of 2-09, storming to the top prize in a time of 57-01.

The Wisbech Wheelers stalwart has only failed to finish on the podium once in her nine races this season and Murley has equalled men’s winner Hart in taking the 50-mile and now the 25-mile prize in ECCA events this month.

Rob Young (Team Vision Racing) was the quickest veteran of the day and he finished fourth overall behind David Harding as he posted a 51-22.
