David Harding and Lauren Kirchel were celebrating after securing victories in the Elite CC 10 on Saturday afternoon.
After taking a podium place in the ECCA 25-mile scratch championship last weekend, Chelmer CC’s David Harding took victory over 10 miles here at Leaden Roding in Essex on Saturday.
The 37-year-old was third in the ECCA event but stepped it up to take a convincing win, 22 seconds faster than his closest competitor with a time of 21.30.
It is his first win of the season, with his best result thus far being second place at the ECCA weekend of racing back at the start of May.
Russell Kober was second, the Hainault RC veteran completing in a time of 21.52. Aspire Velo RT rider Andy Sewell was third, his time of 22.19 putting him 10 seconds ahead of fourth-placed Terry Garlinge of Team Vision – Silverhook.
Although Garlinge’s time wasn’t enough to force his way into the top three, it was enough to place him second veteran behind Kober. Fifth-placed Rob Chaplain of East London Velo was third veteran in a time of 22.32.
In 13th place overall, Lauren Kirchel of Chelmer CC was fastest woman, clocking a time of 23.37. Essex Road CC veteran Susan Triplow was second fastest woman, just edging Julia Freeman out by nine seconds. Triplow stopped the clock at 25.03 and Freeman, of Easterley Road Club, came in at 25.12.
