Lucy Rogers and Mark Turnbull emerged victorious at the Cheshire Roads Club 50-mile time trial near Goostrey on Saturday afternoon.

Turnbull (TORQ Performance) clocked a time of 1-48-28 to finish top of the podium, improving on last year’s performance where he finished third in the same event and continued his fine form in the 2018 season.

This victory is one of many throughout this season for Turnbull - he last won the Janus Road Club 25 in July and also topped the podium at the Anfield Bicycle Club 100 in May.

Ben Norbury (Congleton CC) finished second with a time of 1-49-31. This result is a one of a number of podium finishes for Norbury throughout the season with the 34-year-old rider also finishing second in the Congleton CC 50 in August.

On what was a good day for racing in terms of conditions Rod Mason (Stockport Clarion CC) took third spot on the podium.

Mason completed the course in a time of 1-50-42 and this is his second podium finish of the season. The veteran rider last finished in the top three in May, when he finished third in the Warrington Road Club 50-mile time trial.

Lucy Rogers was the first woman across the line, finishing with a time of 2:15-42. The veteran was also victorious at the Withington Wheelers 10 at the end of August and has carried her fine form in to September.

Her margin of victory was 4-51 with her closest competitor being Venessa Townsend (Springfield Financial Racing Team) who clocked a time of 2-15-42.
