David Langlands took victory over his own team mate by the narrowest of margins in the Leicestershire BC 10-mile time trial in Seagrave on Saturday.
The veteran rider completed in a time of 20.21, just a second quicker than Team Bottrill-Vanguard team mate and fellow veteran Dan Barnett who had to settle for second.
It was a great way for Langlands to open his account for the new season having recorded a victory in the VTTA 25-mile Championship back in September of last year.
Experience proved to be key with third place on the podium also being occupied by a veteran in the form of Mapperley CC representative Ian Guilor, only five seconds off Langlands’ time in 20.26.
Junior rider April Tacey of Team 22 completed in an impressive 22.52 to take the women’s prize and 13th place overall in a field of 45 riders.
Veteran Christine Johnson of Hinckley Cycling RC was second woman in 26.07 and Steph Russell of Team Bottrill-Vanguard was third.
