Rowan Brackston took victory in the East Sussex CA hill climb on the 1,433-yard Firle Bostal course near Lewes on Saturday.
The Imperial College CC rider topped the field of 41 rider to complete the climb, stopping the clock at 3.49.6. It was his first win of the hill climb season after recording a third-place finish in the Bec CC hill climb and fifth in the Catford CC event, both in October.
David Ross of LFGSS CC finished in second place, four seconds off the time of Brackston in a time of 3.53.4. Ross has enjoyed a good run of form of late and two weeks ago he won two Brighton Miter CC events in one day.
Bill Bell of Bigfoot CC was third, eight seconds of the pace of Ross in 4.01.5 – enough to make him quickest veteran on the day. First Espoir rider was Nick Martin of East Grinstead CC, fourth overall in 4.18.7.
A fantastic ride from Joscelin Lowden of Lewes Wanderers CC saw her take the women’s prize with 4.25.4, placing her in sixth place overall. Adam Churchill took the juvenile prize, the Preston Park Youth Cycling Club rider 11th overall in 4.42.8.
Debbie Percival of 34 Nomads CC was second woman in 32nd place overall with a time of 5.38.9.
