Charles Coleman (DRK Racing) and Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles) were victorious in the Severn Road Club hill-climb on Hinton Hill near Pucklechurch on Saturday afternoon.
Bath-based Coleman clocked 1-57.5 for the half-mile climb, giving him the win by a slender 0.2 seconds from Andrew Kirby (Univ of Bristol CC) while Russell Peace (Dursley RC) was third, another 3.4 seconds back.
And in the women’s category Jago clocked 2-37.1 to take the win by 11 seconds from Frances Bromley (Buxton CC) while Anabell Orenz (North Cotswold CC) was third, less than a second further back.
It was in-form Coleman’s fourth win of the season, having taken victory in the VC Walcot hill-climb on October 1, as well as being part of the winning line-ups in the Bath University CC three-up 22-mile time trial and the Performance Cycles four-up 23.5-mile time trial back in April.
He is next in action in the University of Bristol CC climb of Belmont Hill on Saturday, as well as Bath CC’s event back on Hinton Hill on Sunday.
Jago’s win was similarly the latest of many throughout the season. Most recently, the 36-year-old from Bristol was second in the Chippenham and District Wheelers hill-climb last weekend, second in both stages of the Mid-Devon CC climbs the week before that, and she won the Somerset RC climb on September 10.
She is also riding Saturday’s University of Bristol climb, but on Sunday she travels to the Stratford CC climb on Dovers Hill near Weston Sub Edge.
