Dan Evans and Maryka Sennema powered their way to victories at the Exeter Wheelers hill-climb.
There were 78 competitors taking on the 1.3-mile Hill course on Pennsylvania Road in Devon, but both national hill-climb title winners from 2014 put in champions’ displays on Saturday morning.
Evans (ASSOS Equipe UK) is fresh off the back of regaining his Welsh title from last weekend, and he continued his preparation for this year’s national championships with a commanding ride.
The 36-year-old from Colwyn Bay stopped the clock in 4:09.7 giving him a sizable 15 second margin of victory as he continues his winning form.
Aside from claiming his fifth Welsh title, Evans also has won the East Lancs RC 2-stage event and the Buxton CC hill-climb all in September.
Second place went to Max Stedman (HuntBikeWheels.com) in 4:24.4, he was eleven second quicker than George Kimber (CS Dynamo) who completed the podium.
Not only was Maryka Sennema the 2014 hill-climb champion, the Paceline RT rider also won the 2013 and 2015 titles.
Sennema stopped the clock in 5:16.9 to claim victory, 18th place overall and a 22 second winning margin over her nearest challenger.
After losing the title to Lou Bates last year, the 43-year-old from Kingston-upon-Thames could be set to challenge again if she can continue this form.
Elizabeth Banks (Storey Racing) was second in a 5:39.1, with four-time Welsh Champion Jessica Evans (ASSOS Equipe UK) seven seconds further back in third.
