Scott Walker (Team Bottrill-HSS Hire) and Jackie Field (CC Ashwell) were the fastest man and woman respectively at the Northampton and District CA 10-mile time trial in Leicestershire on Saturday.
Walker, 38 and from near Coalville, clocked 22-04 on his way to victory in the event on the NC16h course near Husbands Bosworth, which gave him the win by 24 seconds from veteran Kings Cliffe Flyers rival Chris Morehen with Michael Burke (Welland Valley CC0 53 seconds off the pace in third.
Meanwhile Jackie Field – the veteran women’s winner of this year’s Knight Composites Classic Time Trial Series – clocked an impressive 24-25 to take the women’s prize by almost two minutes from Wendy Gooding (Team Bottrill).
The win was Walker’s second open event victory of the season, following his win in the Worcester St John’s CC 10 back in June.
While runner-up Morehen was the fastest veteran, second spot in the veterans category went to Enrico Cacciatori (Baines Racing), who clocked 23.02 to hold off Simon Pitchford (Fenland Clarion0 by 20 seconds.
Best of the espoir riders was Vincenzo Pratley (A5 Rangers) who clocked 24-28 to finish 13th, while best junior was Noah Field (CC Ashwell) who was 23rd with a time of 25-42. And in a good field of juveniles it was 45RC rider Trystan Barnett who took the win with 25-57.
