Chris McNamara and Jacintha Hamilton-Love were fastest man and woman respectively as the South Eastern Road Club staged a 10-mile time trial in West Sussex on Saturday.
Worthing-based McNamara, 42, clocked 20.08 to take victory by 25 seconds from East Grinstead CC rival Steve Dennis, with Ben Elliott (Paceline RT) third, another 19 seconds back.
Fastest female was Jacintha Hamilton-Love from London, whose time of 23.03 was a personal best and enough for victory in the women’s category by 2-17 from second-placed Valerie Place (7 Oaks Tri).
The G10/57 course starts just north of Horsham, and heads east using mainly the A264 towards Crawley and back.
McNamara picks his events carefully, and has only ridden six time trials so far in 2017, and won five of them.
July saw him win the Brighton Excelsior 10, as well as the Crawley Wheelers 10 on the same G10/57 course, with a season-best time of 19.55.
He was also victorious in the Horsham Cycling 10 on the same course, as well as winning the New Year’s Day Southborough and District Wheelers 10 and placing second in February’s Southdowns Bikes 21-kilometre event.
Hamilton-Love has been getting better as the season progresses, with several podium finishes in recent weeks.
She was also fastest female in the Brighton Excelsior 10-mile TT on July 15, while also in July she was second in the Reading CC 25 and third in the Watford Velo 10.
June saw her place third in both the Shaftesbury CC 25 and Horsham Cycling 10, which was held on the same G10/57 course as her latest victory – although she was more than a minute quicker in the South Eastern RC event.
Earlier in the season, she was second in the Lewes Wanderers 30 and secured the same place in the Elite Cycling 10 where she clocked 24-57 for the Broadbridge Heath course.
