Steve Guymer and Karen Taylor were the fastest male and female riders as Ferryhill Wheelers staged their 25-mile time trial in North Yorkshire on Saturday morning.
Using the T252/3 course near East Cowton, the event sees riders use the A19, starting at Crathorne and heading south to turn at Knayton and heading back up.
Rapha CC rider Guymer, 28 and from Cottingham in East Yorkshire, clocked 53.45 to win by 23 seconds from veteran rival Shaun Tyson (Adept Precision RT), while just one second further back in third place was Kris Atkin (Team Bottrill-HSS Hire).
Fastest female was Bradford-based veteran Karen Taylor, the Vertex Biemme rider who covered the course in 1:03.48 to take the women’s prize by 14 seconds from Sarah Lewthwaite (East Bradford CC).
Taylor’s form has been improving throughout the 2017 season. Her first open victory came in last month’s Sleaford Wheelers 15-mile time trial, while she was second fastest female in the Ilkley CC 10 in March and was third in the Drighlington BC 25 in May.
And for Guymer, this is similarly his second open time trial win in 2017, following on from victory in the Cleveland Wheelers hilly 25 in May.
Other notable results for the 28-year-old include second in the Lincoln Wheelers 10 last weekend, as well as third in the Sheffrec CC two-up 25, alongside John Brearley.
