Steve Ayres and Vicky Jowett were fastest male and female as Otley CC staged a 50-mile time trial near Dishforth in North Yorkshire on Sunday.
Ayres, the 38-year-old Bingley-based member of Bronte Wheelers, clocked 1-50-13 to win the event by more than four minutes from Team Swift rival Blaine Metcalfe, with veteran Steve Colloby (All Terrain Cycles) third.
Leeds-based Vicky Jowett (Albarosa CC) was the women’s winner by more than five minutes. Her time of 2-08-51 gave her the win over Rachael Mellor (Holmfirth CC).
In-form Ayres has already tasted victory this season, winning the Drighlington BC 25 in May, while he was second in the Otley CC 25 in April as well as the Border City Wheelers 20 and Harrogate Nova CC 24 back in March.
Originally from Devon, Jowett secured a weekend double with her win in the Otley CC 50, having already won the Valley Striders 25 to the south of Boroughbridge the day before.
Among her 2017 performances so far are second place finishes in the Sheffrec CC 25 in May as well as second in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 25 in April.
