Luke Cornish and Nadine Cannon were the senior winners at the Bynea CC 10 in South Wales on Saturday afternoon.
There were 62 riders taking to the course running along the A465 from Resolven to Aberdulais and back and in the men’s competition it was Cornish that came out of top.
Cornish (Cwmcarn Paragon RC) set a time of 20.18 which was good enough for a victory by 16 seconds.
This was his first open time trial victory of the season, following third place finishes at Bynea CC’s other events over the 25 and 50 mile distances in the last month.
Luke Dix of Cardiff Jif came in second whilst Philip Tucker, riding for the host club Bynea CC, completed the top three in 20.41.
Fastest veteran was Chris Massey (Team Bottrill/HSS Hire) who missed out on the podium by just four seconds, finishing fourth in a time of 20.45.
Nadine Cannon (VeloSistas TT) claimed the top prize in the women’s competition after a commanding ride which gave her a winning margin of more than 40 seconds.
The 39-year-old from Rhondda Cynon Taff clocked 24.21 for her 10 miles which put her in 35th place in the overall standings.
Arja Scarsbrook (Team Echelon) was the nearest challenger to Cannon after posting a time of 25.03 to finish second as well as the first female veteran.
Elsewhere, host club rider Matthew Hanford was the fastest junior, a time of 21.48 was good enough to see him finish 14th place overall, with Oliver Walker-Hayes the fastest espoir in ninth.
