James Gullen (JLT Condor) made it two wins in two days as he powered to victory in the Lancaster CC hilly 21-mile time trial in Cumbria on Sunday, adding to his win in the previous day’s West Pennine RC hilly 14.
Gullen, who broke the course record for the previous week’s Circuit of Ingleborough too, continued his great early season form with a convincing victory in the Lancaster CC event, which used the L211 course from Halton to Kirkby Lonsdale.
The 27-year-old Yorkshireman, who now lives in Lancaster, clocked 48.11 to win by more than three minutes from his nearest rival, Simon Wilson (Secret Training CC), while David Allonby (Springfield Financial RT) was third.
First female was Rebecca Rimmington (Team WNT Pro Cycling) with 59.15, giving her a convincing win over Helen Jackson (Kendal CC) who was more than seven and a half minutes back.
The challenging course – which was battered by strong winds and rain for the Lancaster CC event - starts on the outskirts of Caton and heads up the A683 to Kirkby Lonsdale before heading back down the adjacent B6254 to finish just before Halton.
