Rob Sharland (Paceline RT) and Kate Allan (Drag2zero) claimed victories in the respective men’s and women’s races at the Farnborough and Camberley CC 10 mile even on Saturday.

The 29-year-old earned a shared victory on the same course in Bentley, Hampshire, back in December, a time of 19 minutes 10 seconds the same as AS Test Team rider Peter Harrison.

Sharland was out on his own this time though continuing his fine start to 2017, stopping the clock at 18.50, good enough for a 39 second winning margin over teammate Pat Wright.

The pair came home first and second in the Redhill CC sporting 18 last month, Sharland coming out on top on that occasion too.

“I’m really really pleased with that one,” Sharland said, “It’s probably the closest course to me and I must have ridden 10 to 20 time trials there, so I always see it as a good testing ground.”

“My target was to do an 18 minute time on the course, and I came close in the winter race.

“I thought if I could get that close in five degrees, I have got a chance with better conditions.

“Alex Dowsett holds the course record, I think at around 18.36, so maybe that is something I can look towards,” he added.

Host team rider Matthew Charlton completed the top three, finishing six seconds behind Wright.

Alan Murchison (Drag2zero) was the fastest veteran, his time of 20.40 saw him just miss out on the top ten in eleventh place.

In the women’s competition, a field of 45 riders took to the course, with Kate Allan recording an impressive win.

The Drag2zero rider was also victorious on the course in December winning by over a minute on that occasion, and her time of 21.31 on Saturday saw her repeat that feat.

Sophie Household (SSLL Racing Team) was second, one minute and ten seconds behind Allan, with Christine Rowley (Poole Wheelers) a further half a minute back to complete the podium.
