Oxford University CC rider Isaac Mundy and Emma Grant (Univ of Bath CC) both stormed to narrow victories in the Newbury Road Club hill-climb on Walbury Hill in Berkshire.
The highest point in the south of England, Walbury Hill sees riders cover 0.8 miles, and Mundy crested the hill in 4.03 to win by just two seconds from Mitchell Webber (Farnham Road Club), while former national hill-climb champion Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy CT) took third, another two seconds back.
Emma Grant (Univ of Bath CC) was the fastest female with an impressive time of 4.51, giving her the win in that category by ten seconds from Alice Lethbridge (Starley Racing), while Rachael Elliott (Newbury RC) was just one second further back in third.
Just outside the top three, Danny Axford (Arctic Tacx RT) took fourth with 4.19, while GS Henley youngster Harvey Weinberger was the fastest junior, his time of 4.32 giving him sixth overall and being ten seconds quicker than his nearest junior rival, Callum Macleod.
The event attracted a large crowd of both riders and spectators, with a prize list worth more than £2,500 and equal split for both men and women.
